Over many years you've helped me more than you'll ever know. The one thing I continue to struggle with is fighting the pain of arthritis in my hands. Both my mother and sister had it extreme. I've tried so many dietary changes, supplements, and hand exercises, etc. Yet it only worsens with time. I want to healthy fight this but am feeling at a loss. Thanks for all you do to help others.

Hi Cindy, I'm so glad you've received so much from me over the years, that makes my heart happy. Here are a few thoughts for you today:

Arthritis is a symptom of lack of blood flow to the joints, causing them to ache for blood (kind of like a heartache, when you long for something that would bring you the warmth of love). In most cases (with the hands), it's fascial restrictions in the arms, neck and chest that are causing sluggish blood circulation to the hands. The body will prioritize blood for the organs over extremities. At an emotional level, instead of fighting the pain or fearing the pain, the "healthy fight" response here is to fight FOR your body; FOR blood flow, FOR opening feedback channels and thanking your body for letting you know it needs help.

Of course, it's always wise to ask: why are the arms, neck and chest becoming so restricted? And this could be purely physical, or it could be related to stress and emotions, or a combination. I've worked with many clients who experience carpal tunnel or hand pain, and it is actually due to emotional restrictions like holding on too tightly to certain grudges or pains, or regrets, or it could be unresolved FIGHT energies from past experiences when your boundaries were violated and you were unable to protect yourself.

Your body is amazingly intelligent, and if you can learn to "think with" her, she will reveal all her secrets and guide you to regeneration and freedom.

♥️

How do genetics play into this? I try to tell myself just because my mother and sister had crippling arthritis in their hands that it doesn't necessarily mean my path has to be the same. But so far it undeniably is.

I look at genetics more as a potential blueprint for physical AND nervous system/emotional/stress patterns. For example, in my family, women were told for generations to be "seen but not heard," which resulted in generations of women stifling their voices, suppressing their anger and playing the role of "good girl" and adult people pleaser.

Personally, I don't believe that genetics (of the purely gene variety) have anything at all to do with our predispositions towards certain aches, pains or diseases. I think it has much more to do with the similarities in diet, gait, temperament etc. For example, people think flat feet is a genetic condition. But babies learn to crawl and then walk by watching their parents (or older siblings), and if one or more parent has flat feet and walks with a gait based on this condition, that's how the child learns to walk and then BAM...they become a teen with flat feet (I've worked with many of them).

I was thinking in terms of arthritis.I have a very different lifestyle from my parents/siblings and although my arthritis is less severe, I have it in the exact finger joints as my family.
