I have been terribly absent lately. And I’ll have an update for you SOON.
But today I’m excited to share my conversation with Hilda Labrada Gore, aka Holistic Hilda, on the Wise Traditions podcast.

Why we should embrace confusion as the first sign that our preconceived ideas about the world might not be in alignment with reality.
As you probably know if you’ve been hanging out with me for any length of time, I don’t do protocols or one-size-fits-all anything. Because they don’t work for everyone. Because they don’t address individuals and their unique needs. And because we desperately need to start thinking outside the modern materialist reductionist mindset if we’re to have any hope of solving our chronic pain and disease epidemics.
Towards the end of this conversation with Hilda she said “But Elisha, I’m even more confused than when we started talking!”
I LOVE that she said this out loud - to my face.
These kinds of moments allow us to grapple with something difficult and meaningful together, instead of sticking to sound bites and polite conversation. Too often today, we’re afraid to challenge each other like this. Especially publicly.
Why was Hilda confused?
To put it plainly: because there are NO fascia protocols on this planet that will produce healthy fascia for all human beings (if there were, we’d all be out of pain and have healthy fascia and I’d be out of a job, which would be fine…but that’s not reality). So - I couldn’t tell her or her listeners how to make their fascia healthier in a few bullet points of conversation.
Having said that, I do share one very fascinating fact about fascia that I’ve learned in my 16 years of working with this mysterious substance. And this one pattern can teach us a lot about how to keep our fascia as healthy as possible. It’s at the very end of the podcast.
The thing is, though…
There are no diets, workouts, mantras, therapies, herbs, supplements, cleanses or remedies that will work for all human beings who share the same malady or wish to become healthy.
This tells us something very important about human beings:
We may all be human, but we are unique as individuals.
We get sick for reasons unique to our individual life stories, traumas, relationships, career, environment, geography, diet, spiritual life…it’s a long list.
There is something about the human individual inhabiting the body that predisposes us to sickness and health, chronic pain or physical freedom.
We cannot be reduced to our material parts; to our genes, atoms, fascia, nerves, bones, organs etc.
We need to start treating individuals rather than labels or symptoms.
Most importantly, we need to see the human being as both material and spiritual in nature, and stop trying to fix our bodies like they are cars we can simply bring to the mechanic when something falls apart while seeking out spiritual guides for our spiritual maladies.
They are happening concurrently.
Always.
There is no delineating line between the material and spiritual worlds.
They intermingle, interpenetrate and inform one another.
So…
