Fascia vs The Nervous System | Fun Graphics Illustrate Subjective vs Objective Realms
Working with our bodies, we can learn how to separate our subjective world (reflected by the nervous system) from cosmic truths revealed in our fascia, which reflects the objective knowledge field.
Today, I am trying something new: I spent a few hours making you some fun graphics that illustrate a lot of what I’ve been attempting to share over the years through stories, science and principles of freedom.
What I’m sharing today are some of the spiritual-physical laws that I’ve learned by working with thousands of people in pain since 2008 using a fascia release and mapping methodology called Kinetix.
As I’ve shared so many times, fascia won’t change just because we want it to. This phenomenon is what sent me into the worlds of neuroscience, psychology, quantum physics and spiritual science (the work of Rudolf Steiner) in order to explain what was happening with so many of my clients (and myself).
When I first started working with people in pain in 2008, I was under a spell: I believed that it was fascia release that would resolve all of our aches and pains.
Why?
Made of more than 70% water (when healthy), fascia is the most abundant tissue in the body, wrapping every nerve ending, every fibril and bundle of muscle tissue, every blood vessel, bone and organ; tendons and ligaments are denser forms of fascia that attach muscle to bone, and bone to bone; the extracellular matrix within the fascial system is the body’s superhighway of communication, transferring and transmitting chemical and sensory messengers from outside and inside the body while bathing every cell in the water needed to sustain life. This fluid matrix our body is housed within can shrink, dehydrate and deform because of injuries, repetitive motion, stress and traumas. Theoretically, releasing fascia with compression and shearing techniques “should” rehydrate the fascia, bring space and fluidity back, allow blood to flow, free trapped nerves and therefore resolve pain. Only, if it were that simple we would not have the chronic pain epidemic we do today.
With over 80% of the people coming to see me in my private practice NOT responding favorably to fascia release alone (the same as me), I humbled myself before each of my clients and asked their body to reveal its wisdom.
By making each unique human being and the body they inhabit my teacher(s), I have learned how to distinguish between subjective and objective realms - within human organisms, and out there in the world. You can do this, too.
Fascia (objective) vs the nervous system (subjective):
Fascia reflects the objective world.
The objective realm includes - encompasses - the subjective. As soon as the subjective changes, that change will be mirrored by the fascia.
As part of the objective realm or “knowledge field” of the planet, fascia will always reflect planetary and cosmic truth(s).
Fascia is embedded in the earth’s atmosphere, and - through the human organism’s highly permeable body - absorbs everything traveling to and around the earth, from sunlight and electromagnetism to water molecules, organic chemicals and poisonous toxins alike.
Impacted primarily by the quality of water, light and electromagnetism we’re exposed to, fascia is bound to the karma of the earth. Everything we do to this planet, we do to ourselves.
While we have nearly god-like powers over our subjective domain (for example, we have the power - by way of the nervous system - to hypnotize ourselves into believing whatever we want to believe, and as a result we will experience our beliefs as if they are reality, when in actual fact we are living in a self created delusion), the powers we possess over everything that extends from our fascia out into the world around us belongs to the social fabric that connects us to all of life; and, in my experience, these powers can only be harnessed “where two or more are gathered.”
Fascia appears to answer to higher (spiritual) laws than the kind of physical laws we typically ascribe to the human organism, such as the purely material sciences of biology and physiology.
Science, for example, will often reach conclusions such as “fascia responds to compression and shearing by activating fasciacytes - specialized cells within the extracellular matrix that synthesize hyaluronic acid; these new HA molecules then absorb the water circulating in the blood, thereby hydrating the body.”
If this were an absolute truth, then in every body where compression and shearing of fascia occurred, fasciacytes should be activated; hyaluronic acid should be produced; and water should be absorbed into the extracellular matrix…thereby hydrating the fascia in that body.
Yet this is not an inevitable outcome of fascia release; it’s merely a POSSIBLE outcome. Fascia release produces variable outcomes…to understand the outcomes, we have to understand the variables.
As human beings, we are embedded within a greater ecosystem and atmosphere that encompasses us. And, while it is the smallest element embedded in this greater ecosystem, the nervous system acts as a “Gatekeeper” to the wisdom that lies beyond the borders of our limited self identity.
Only when we are accountable for our subjective actions will we be granted access to the world of fascia (and objective truth).
The nervous system reflects our subjective world.
What is the nervous system, anyway? The simplest answer is that it encompasses our brain, spinal cord and the 43 peripheral nerves that populate our body. Every nerve consists of a bunch of nerve fibers covered in connective tissue (fascia). Nerves don’t travel; they send electrical messages through the fascial system to the brain, so we can process that data and make sense of ourselves and our world.
If it weren’t for the nervous system, we wouldn’t be able to “see” - know ourselves. Through the 5 primary senses (we have more than 5 senses, but that’s a story for another time), we’re able to distinguish ourselves from everything that is NOT us. We are constantly reflected back to ourselves by the nervous system so that we may “see” or know ourselves.
If I thought I was you instead of myself, for example, or if I couldn’t tell the difference between my own two feet and the various surfaces underneath them, I would exist in a state of chronically confused self identity; I wouldn’t know how to feed myself, move my body or form relationships. Relationships require boundaries, and it is by way of the nervous system that we establish our personal boundaries. This knowledge can be weaponized against us, and as a result of this happening with increasing frequency, there are a lot of very confused people walking among us. Still, even confused self identity is a helpful reflection…if we’re willing to acknowledge it.
The nervous system mirrors back to us all of our beliefs, stories, predictions, fears, desires, self protective patterns and habitual behaviors.
As long as we stay within the familiar confines of the nervous system’s subjective domain, we remain in an illusory world created by the subconscious soul; a labyrinth of our own making that constantly throws us back on ourselves.
Access to the greater wisdom beyond our subjective world will remain out of reach until we clear away the fog of our personal projections. This is possible because the nervous system, which belongs to the animal element of our nature (connected to the soul aspect of the human being), is not all there is to us.
Fascia is the key to understanding human freedom.
As spiritual beings, we have the capacity for a higher form of self consciousness (via the human spirit) that can transcend the personal urges, impulses and desires of the “lower” animal/soul nature. This is where our capacity for freedom originates.
Freedom, much to the disappointment of those who believe it is a purely individual endeavor, does not belong to the individual alone; freedom is developed - within individuals - through our relationships with each other and the world around us. This is what fascia (or, the spiritual wisdom embedded there) seems to want to teach us about human freedom.
Here’s what I mean:
▶ Whenever I attempt to predict the future by imagining negative or positive outcomes - an aspect of the soul mirrored by the nervous system’s survival strategies - I am not free.
▶ When I reject my body as it is (for example, a body that gives me pain) and react by trying to change it (an aspect of the soul mirrored by the meaning making function of the nervous system) I am not free.
▶ When I blame you for the hurts I feel and cling to my desire for justice (an aspect of the soul mirrored by the fight/flight/freeze function of nervous system) I am not free.
▶ When I act out my automated programming, which makes up about 95% of all my daily actions (an aspect of the soul mirrored by the brain’s hyper neuroplasticity in childhood that locks in our programming by around age 21) I am not free.
On the other hand…
✦ When I expand my consciousness beyond the subjective domain of my own self created world and open myself to social, planetary and cosmic messengers (all traveling through my body’s fascia) I become more free.
✦ When I acknowledge the impact that you have on me, and the impact that I have on you (and all my relations), and prioritize the health of these relationship over my own personal desires and fears, I become more free.
✦ When I acknowledge the impact that we humans are having - collectively - on this planet, accept the consequences of those actions (perhaps mirrored by my own ill health), and, instead of seeking solutions that will cure only myself, align my daily actions with a conscience that seeks to honor the health of the whole, I become more free.
✦ When I harness the 5 kinetic energies my body absorbs from the cosmos and use them for the collective good, I become more free.
By the way, the method I developed in my private practice - Kinetix - utilizes the 5 kinetic energies to activate human freedom by creating an exponentially powerful current (a conjoined toroidal field) of all 5 energies that pass from the person stepping to the one being stepped on and back again. This is why it’s so powerful. But these energies must be consciously directed, or they will take the path of least resistance and be rendered impotent. (Another spiritual-physical law).
If you want to dive into all of this and more, the new Kinetix Academy will be opening before my next newsletter goes out. YAY!
We’ll also be opening the larger Human Freedom Project membership that encompasses the Kinetix Academy - kind of like the circle graphic above - which will be open to everyone aligned with the mission of human freedom. I can’t wait to welcome you if it feels like the right community for you.
As a Waldorf child, I have a very active and vivid imagination. I think mostly in pictures, patterns and connections between all the various players on the vast stage of my imagination. Often, I feel challenged to communicate what I “see” in my mind as it relates to fascia, the nervous system, pain, freedom, the planet and cosmos, and the interconnected nature of these phenomena that continue to inspire me to spread these messages far and wide.
I hope my visual graphics have helped!
Please let me know by leaving a comment, and I’ll make more of them.
With love,
Elisha
Such valuable information and so in line with the other studies I’m involved with!! Whenever I read your posts I want to take notes in the sidelines regarding this alignment but I’m reading it on my phone!! I think I’ll start using my ipad and use the “ note “ function in photos !
Looking forward to joining you on this new journey!!…..just need to find some balance first — refraining from information overload at the present moment. All the best with your continued efforts and keep up the good work- definitely onto Something here! There is definitely strength in numbers !!
I forwarded you article to a friend....and he is curious and is wondering about a statement you made and would love deeper clarification Elisha -
He states - "From reading what you sent, it all seems to tie back to Love. While she never used the word once, all the examples of what we need to do to be free are connected to loving thoughts, loving self, loving others, loving planet, loving cosmos.
fabric that connects us to all of life; and, in my experience, these powers can only be harnessed “where two or more are gathered.”
I wish she would have elaborated on that statement a little....Im not sure what she means by "where two or more are gathered." because the statement was in reference to connecting to all life.....I mean does connecting to your pet have the same benefit or value as connecting to another person? Or am I totally misreading what she's saying."
