Instead of sending out a written letter, I'm trying something different and I'd love your feedback. Join me Wednesday on Zoom for a group discussion and open Q&A on: Exploring The Nervous System
Hi Elisha, I'm going to try to come. Been watching your videos, and your work is fascinating! I'm in Italy, so I will check the local time here to join you.
Yes, evening. We just had daylight savings, but I think it happens next week in the states. Oyyyy, it's all so confusing. Will do my best to get there!
Oh! I forgot about daylight savings. Ours is not until next week - so stick to whatever google is telling you is US pacific time on Wednesday. And feel free to email me 😊
First, as a human being I own a nervous system and have had lots of personal experience getting to know mine, how it functions, and how I can have power with it vs feeling like it has power over me.
Second, I went through some extreme traumas throughout my childhood to the extent that I stopped feeling my emotions by age 10 and ended up with chronic pain by age 15. Throughout my 20's I spent tens of thousands of dollars working with credentialed professionals - medical doctors, emergency room visits, psychotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, naturopathic doctors etc and NOT ONE OF THEM HELPED ME. Not one.
My story is often the story of the people who seek me out for help - they tried all of the socially acceptable forms of help, usually without success.
Because I wasn't getting anywhere with all of these credentialed people, I had to find solutions and answers for myself - in books, in spiritual texts, in relationship practice groups, in personal development seminars, by talking with friends, and most of all by taking action in my own life on the knowledge I was acquiring. I became a passionate citizen scientist.
I know that most of the chronic pain I experienced for 20 years was due to unhealed trauma. I was once stuck in freeze and fawn mode, unable to say NO, unable to set boundaries, unable to advocate for myself or allow the people in my life to see who I really am. With trial and error, I figured out how to move through these experiences into a life of freedom - by learning to harness the power of my sympathetic nervous system to say no, speak my truth, set boundaries, yell and scream to let unprocessed anger out etc - and now I share what I've learned with people who want to hear from my lived experience as a traumatized person who once dealt with daily, debilitating pain and a tortured mind.
Third, I have been working with people in pain since 2008 in private practice, with a near 90% success rate. Most of my clients are people that the medical system either harmed (with unnecessary surgeries, fascia damaging shots, re traumatizing therapy etc), or gave up on. I have 12 years of experience exploring the nervous system side of things with my clients, again - with a high success rate. All of my clients opt in to work with me knowing that I have no formal credentials, and it is their free choice to do so.
I am proudly and 100% by choice an unlicensed - and therefore unregulated - practitioner, which means I can work with the whole human being, which I believe is made of body, soul and spirit (and of which I am publicly very open about), and I do not have to worry about anyone telling me I am doing something "outside the scope of my practice."
Most of my clients and online students are as frustrated as I once was by trying to seek help from credentialed professionals who are only legally allowed to help them with one tiny part of their organism without any understanding of the whole. This system of permission based, regulated professions is utterly broken in my opinion.
I am certainly not for everyone, so if you or anyone else reading this is looking for state issued credentials that supposedly give me permission to speak about the nervous system, I am not the right person for you. I believe we are all qualified to talk about it because we own one inside our own skin.
I believe the only criteria that truly qualifies someone to help others is that they have lived through similar experiences that their clients are asking for help with. Being human, treatinng people with kindness and dignity and actually listening to them is a must. And a track record of success goes a long way too.
Thanks for giving me a chance to address this issue here.
who can attend this if they have to support themselves let alone children with work for $ ??
i would love to attend. It was the same problem when i was an honorary woman for an all women's 6 month ayurveda training program. So many of the classes would be added in the daytime that i could not participate in.
Hi Peter - I hear you. However, I can assure you after 6 years online that no matter what I do, I will disappoint someone. This is my job and how I support myself, and I like to work during the day and rest at night. If you see Diane's comment above you'll notice she's in Italy. I have people all over the world who often want to attend my Zooms, and there is no time that will work for everyone. So we have to do what we can with "what is" - which is a big part of nervous system work. There will be a replay posted on Thursday for paid Substack subscribers.

I'm curious as to what your qualifications or credentials are. Thanks.
